About
Software for the people who build things out of steel
Fabricata makes software for fabrication and engineering workshops in South Africa. Not for factories in general, and not for office projects that happen to have a deadline: for businesses that cut, bend, weld, inspect, paint and dispatch steel for their customers.
Each Fabricata product does one job in that workshop, and does it properly:
- Fabricata Cut plans how stock lengths are cut, puts offcuts back into use, and keeps heat numbers and certificates traceable.
- Fabricata Inspect records inspections and quality control on the floor, with photographic evidence and document-controlled reports.
- Fabricata Flow tracks every job through its stages, so everyone knows where the work is, who is on it and what is holding it up.
How we build
Workshops have little patience for software that gets in the way, and they are right. So the products share a few rules:
- Start from how the work is really done. Flow keeps the job card, because workshops already think in job cards.
- Work on the floor. A phone in a welding bay is the real test, not a large screen in a quiet office.
- Keep customers' data theirs. Each company's information is separated on the server and exportable at any time.
- Leave out what nobody uses. A short list of features that work beats a long list that almost does.
